Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources is one of the 21 ministries under the administration of His Excellency Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Governor of Gombe State. The ministry is a technical one with four directorates of Environment; Forestry and Wildlife Management; Planning, Research and Statistic; Administration and Finance
Department of Environment was after the creation of Gombe State under the ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as a department, but in 1999 the department of Environment was moved to ministry of Water Resources and Environment until 2013 when the ministry of Environment and Forest Resources was established.
The primary responsibility of the ministry is the implementation of Gully Erosion Control project; implementation of Environmental Impact Assessment Laws/policies in the state; Climate Change policies and programs; Environmental education/Advocacy and Enforcement of Environmental Laws as well as Pollution Control and Waste Management.
